Healthy eating at Cheekwood's Dia De Los Muertos

Cheekwood's 13th annual El Dia de los Muertos was held Sat., Oct. 27 (sabado, 27 de octubre), celebrating the colorful Days of the Dead festivals of Mexico and Latin America. The holiday is one of the most important celebrations in Latin America and demonstrates the Latin culture’s strong love of life as well as respect for departed ancestors. Dia de los Muertos is related to Halloween.

The Nashville fall fiesta featured traditional Latin and Aztec dancing, arts and crafts, Mariachis, a small marketplace, and lots and lots of Mexican food!

From the conversation, "Focus on the Family" posted five tips learned from Cooper, pointing out a person can learn quite a bit from someone who has lived 116 years.

Healthy eating at the 31st Native American Indian Association Pow Wow & Festival

 The 2012 Native American Indian Association Pow Wow and Fall Festival took place on Oct. 19 and 20 at Nashville's Long Hunter State Park. Native Americans from around the Nation gathered for the Tennessee Pow Wow to reunite with friends and family and to share part of their culture, including song, dance, crafts, jewelry, Indian dolls and food.


The day was slightly overcast and a little cool, but almost perfect weather for putting on sunscreen and spending the day outside enjoying the colorful sights, sounds and tastes.

Rodan + Fields rolls out new technology for Super Saturday

Rodan + Fields Dermatologists rolled out their newest technological marvel on Oct. 6, 2012 at Super Saturday events across the country. The new computer tool, called PerSKINality, allows people with questions about their skin and which products would work best for them to answer a few questions and upload a photo or take one with their webcam.

Join Mayor Karl Dean for the “Walk 100 Miles” challenge

For the 14th Annual Walk Nashville Week, Mayor Karl Dean announced the second year for the “Walk 100 Miles” challenge he started in 2011. Dean came up with the concept as a community-wide effort to encourage Nashvillians to improve their overall health. The idea is for Nashville residents to join their friends and neighbors in walking 100 miles in Nashville’s many parks and greenways during the last three months of the year.
