Pope Francis and President Trump Defend Charlie Gard's Human Dignity in Controversial Case
How do we deal with health and medical conditions that could cause serious disabilities? Are disabled, retarded, geriatric, senile or otherwise impaired patients not to be extended the same rights as other patients? Do parents not have the right to seek available healthcare for their children? This controversial case examines how we look at disabilities today.
In separate statements of support, Pope Francis and President Donald Trump have vigorously defended little Charlie Gard's human dignity, and the right of his parents -- Chris and Connie -- to do everything in their power to save the life of their disabled son. Further, President Trump has extended a welcome to Charlie Gard in a U.S. hospital.
